Outfit of the Week
POSTED IN Outfit of the Week, Yuri

Yuri sweeps up the first Outfit of the Week this year, looking breathtaking earlier last week at the SBS Drama Awards. The winner of the ‘New Star Award’ looked positively radiant in a white embroidered gown no doubt from a bridal collection which as accented with floral appliqués.

Keeping the styling simple, Yuri opted for silver drop earrings, natural make-up and a simple up-do. Needless to say, this ensemble ranks in as one of our top red carpet looks we have seen from Yuri yet.

Most Viewed Member in 2012 – Jessica
POSTED IN Articles, Fashion Highlights, Jessica

Though Jessica’s famous laziness makes her the butt of many jokes, the Ice Princess is no slouch when it comes to fashion, and her numerous fashion spreads and outfits led to her winning Most Viewed for the second year in a row.

This year, we saw Jessica fabulously strut her stuff in spreads for Coming Step as well as Dazed and Confused, always bringing with her an aura of charm and grace. She never seemed to have a misstep style-wise, be it on while strutting the red carpet for their numerous award ceremonies or just briskly walking through an airport terminal on her way to another busy schedule.

In addition to her keen fashion sense, she also never fell victim to the “bad hair days” that plagued members such as Sunny (I’m not even sure what color her hair is at this time of writing) or Hyoyeon (finally got a good Stylist, after having a rocky year with outfits), with her style of choice being loosely curled and its length being characterized as long.

No doubt, it was her ability to excel in areas such as these that led to her personal articles garnering the most views on this site. Congrats to Jessica for her 2nd year with the title!

In 2nd place, the doe-eyed angel Yoona made her presence known with a large amount of views on the site. Though widely known as the designated “visual” of the group, the position is a well-deserved one, as our deer Yoona showed off a mature sense of modeling, notably in Harper’s Bazaar, where she took on a dark, brooding aura that almost seemed to channel “Run Devil Run” in it’s choice of style.

In addition, her various promotional appearances for “Love Rain” as well as her frequent choice as a model/sponsor for products such as Innisfree. Much like Jessica, she also did not encounter any grievous missteps when it came to fashion and hair, which no doubt, led to her also amassing a large amount of views.

Sooyoung: Hit or Miss
POSTED IN Hit or Miss, Polls, Sooyoung | TAGGED:

The last Hit or Miss of 2012 questions Sooyoung’s choice of outfit once again. This month she was seen wearing a Sequin Lip Blouse and Knee Length Skirt, both by Moschino Cheap and Chic, on SBS Midnight TV Entertainment.

The skirt doesn’t seem to be the problem; it’s cute, simple and an appropriate length for Sooyoung to sit without feeling exposed. The color and organza fabric add a girly flair to her outfit. However, the problem arises with the blouse, which is awkwardly printed with faces and colored lips.

Since Sooyoung is wearing the blouse tucked in, only one lip is visible, making the print even more odd. Another issue with the top is the rainbow hued sequins. Not only do the colors of the sequins make the blouse look cheap, but they also make the sequins resemble the scales of a fish. Surely, many people will agree that it is mainly the sequins that cause problems with Sooyoung’s outfit.

Sooyoung is our victim for the last Hit or Miss poll of this year, so do you want to be merciful or let her know what you really think?

Review: Forever 21 Faux Suede Platform Mary Janes
POSTED IN Articles, Footwear, Pumps, Reviews | TAGGED: ,

Review on the Forever 21 Faux Suede Platform Mary Janes as seen Taeyeon and Tiffany.

Forever 21 also offer the same shoe in different colors and fabrics such as a Patent Platform Mary Jane seen on Tiffany in the Bean Pole Event.

Specs:

  • Round toe.
  • Heels are approximately 4.73” (12 cm).
  • Adjustable buckle strap.
  • Softly padded insole lined in textured outsole.

First of all, I have had my eye on these shoes since the day I tried them on in the store and hesitated on buying them. However, upon seeing it on Taeyeon backstage in Music Core and on Tiffany during Hong Rok-ki’s Wedding, I called every Forever 21 branch in our country to see if they had them. In almost all the stores, they were sold out until luckily I found a branch nearby where they had a few stocks left with my size. Now that I have bought them I now know why they sold like hotcakes:

It’s sleek and simple Mary Jane style is wearable in jeans, leggings, shorts or skirts. The Mary Janes give off a very feminine yet sophisticated look even if you want to dress up or dress down. They elongate the legs without adding too much height and add poise to every stance.

Unlike a stiletto, these chunky heels give support in terms of balance so every step is sturdy because of its wide base. Forever 21’s Mary Janes are perfect for the girls who what the extra height without baring the pain of tiptoeing all night. Because of the platform, the angle of the feet is just right that it supports the arch of the foot thus you can last in these shoes for hours.

Drawbacks:

–       Its suede fabric can easily show if you’ve stepped into something dusty (regardless of color) but can easily be brushed off and be good as new.

–       The weight of the shoe is quite heavy so it may cause you to stomp a bit if wearing the shoes for the first time. It is not advisable for too much walking and it may make you unsteady the first time you walk in them.

Consensus: Like every other pair of heels it needs some time of getting used to, so expect some wobbling and some pain in the balls of your foot.

 Rating: 4/5

This product is currently sold out at forever21.com, but still available at Forever 21 Korea and Forever 21 China.
