This week, we take a look at Sunny’s edgy look headed into Gimpo Airport after a round of Japanese promotions. The shortest member of Girls’ Generation was dressed nearly head-to-toe in dark colors, with a splash of white on her shoes being the only detractor.

She started off with a dark heather gray over-sized Marcus Lupfer sweater, adorned with a glittery set of lips for shock value. Sunny complimented her sweater with a pair of skinny black jeans, and further down, a pair of high-top leather Converse sneakers with the aforementioned white trim bringing a “pop” to the ensemble (and no doubt adding a few CM’s to her overall height). She paired this all with a white-with-brown trim shoulder bag, leather of course, and finally a tortoise shell set of Ray-Ban Wayfarers for that last bit of rockin’ style. Her hair was captured in a loose ponytail, leaving her bangs out front to add to the edge.

Congrats to Sunny for proving that even good girls can pull off the bad girl look!

The Girls’ Generation and Chanel love affair have been going on for quite some time. From the first time they met through the girls’ magazine shoots, their relationship has then blossomed to a point where both parties are inseparable. We see Girls’ Generation with Chanel items such as bags and shoes most of time when they’re in the airport. Although these classic looks are beautiful, here at Soshi Style we can’t help but select Chanel runway looks that would best fit the girls. We hope to see these Chanel pieces worn by the girls in their upcoming special appearances/events and in the airport!

*Please note the Chanel dress is being referred for SNSD, and not the complete ensemble

Chanel Runway Looks

1

Taeyeon: Resort 2014 Collection
Taeyeon has been experimenting with her sexy-side lately. From navel-baring crop tops to see-through sweaters, Taeyeon definitely wants to emphasize her being a woman. This mini-dress from Chanel’s Resort 2014 collection is both classy and exciting. With it’s length perfect for Taeyeon’s height and the intricate embellishments add more elegance to the dress’ fierce style, with it also being very wearable for different hair and make-up styles.

2

Jessica: Spring 2013 Collection
Jessica can pull-off anything as the renowned fashionista. This look from Chanel’s Spring 2013 line will make her the muse to all artists. The dress is very clean and elegant, perfect as a canvas for more vibrant accessories. The look is very versatile, giving the freedom of proper alterations and a wider range for hair and make-up. Jessica can also choose to grace this dress during a day or night event.

3

Sunny: Spring 2013 Collection
A perfect ensemble for Sunny would be something sweet and youthful. This shorter Chanel Spring 2013 dress flows perfectly and fits Sunny’s petite figure. It’s color makes it easier to match it with colorful accessories. The pearl embellishments are more visible, giving off a very vintage Chanel feel. Although this dress is perfect for night events, Sunny can wear this dress with edgier pieces/accessories to make it fit for the night.

As pioneers of Kpop, Girls’ Generation attended the Incheon Korean Music Wave Concert which promotes the Hallyu on the 1st of September. The Music Core duo Yulti walks the red carpet with two dresses with distinct styles and Tiffany captures the throne of OTW by continuing her motif of ‘The Girls who is On Fire’.

This time, Tiffany took the adjective ‘firey’ with a different approach, transforming herself from a casual LA Girl to a Hollywood celebrity. She opted for a wine colored Tiered Mermaid Dress with five layers of box pleats, the sweetheart neckline along with the side-tied bow volumizes the figure of Tiffany. Wrapping up, Tiffany slightly curled and side swept her hair and puts on a colour matching ruby necklace.

The Price of Fame: Chanel
POSTED IN Articles, Fashion Highlights, Uncategorized | TAGGED:

As is the case with luxury and status symbols, nothing of the sort typically comes cheap, and when it comes to Chanel, “cheap” still costs upwards of $500 or so dollars. Needless to say, you need an idol-level salary to be able to readily afford these, and thankfully, Girls’ Generation just happen to be in the position to do so.

Being the upscale fashion house it is, Chanel produces ready-to-wear clothing and accessories, as well as it’s considerably pricier and famous haute couture (“high fashion”) items, which are custom made to suit the needs and measurements of the client, offering the ultimate degree of customization, and when asked, allows the wearer to inform the curious individual that “Yes sir, it’s one of a kind”, doubly so if the individual asking is G-Dragon. Just kidding.

As it stands, the members of Girls’ Generation are typically spotted with the ready-to-wear portion of the designer label, consisting typically of their handbags, wallets, purses and shoes. Though these are in the lower-tier of the product, they still command a pretty penny – the salmon pink clutch wallet pictured below retails for roughly about $950. Oh, to be rich.

Moreover, the girl’s strongly prefer the handbags, as along with the shoes are the most commonly seen of the items. No surprise there, Chanel handbags, alongside the sunglasses and cosmetics, are the widely regarded as the most visible and prominent of the label’s items. While some other luxury makers emblazon their design to almost comical extents on some items (MK all over Michael Kors hand bags), most Chanel bags stick to the tried and true method of the double CC on one or two locations, not too gaudy but not too understated that the brand is unable to be recognized.

In the photo below, Sunny’s bag from the 2013 showcases the characteristics detailed above.

Though at roughly $5,000 a bag, the eye-catching design is nothing to be surprised about. After all, brands survive by revolutionizing or reinventing fashionable statements like bags or glasses. Chanel’s made trailblazing strides in both, and it’s no surprise the members of Girls’ Generation have gravitated towards them and sought to showcase them without even being sponsored models. While the price is high for some, Girls’ Generation is not just “some” group, and money is not an issue for them. With some saving and budgeting(not applicable if you’re either wealthy, if so, you probably just bought the 2 products I pictured above or already owned them), you too can turn an airport into a runway just like Jessica. Only, you know. Without the paparazzi.
