The Price of Fame: Chanel
POSTED IN Articles, Fashion Highlights, Uncategorized | TAGGED:

As is the case with luxury and status symbols, nothing of the sort typically comes cheap, and when it comes to Chanel, “cheap” still costs upwards of $500 or so dollars. Needless to say, you need an idol-level salary to be able to readily afford these, and thankfully, Girls’ Generation just happen to be in the position to do so.

Being the upscale fashion house it is, Chanel produces ready-to-wear clothing and accessories, as well as it’s considerably pricier and famous haute couture (“high fashion”) items, which are custom made to suit the needs and measurements of the client, offering the ultimate degree of customization, and when asked, allows the wearer to inform the curious individual that “Yes sir, it’s one of a kind”, doubly so if the individual asking is G-Dragon. Just kidding.

As it stands, the members of Girls’ Generation are typically spotted with the ready-to-wear portion of the designer label, consisting typically of their handbags, wallets, purses and shoes. Though these are in the lower-tier of the product, they still command a pretty penny – the salmon pink clutch wallet pictured below retails for roughly about $950. Oh, to be rich.

Moreover, the girl’s strongly prefer the handbags, as along with the shoes are the most commonly seen of the items. No surprise there, Chanel handbags, alongside the sunglasses and cosmetics, are the widely regarded as the most visible and prominent of the label’s items. While some other luxury makers emblazon their design to almost comical extents on some items (MK all over Michael Kors hand bags), most Chanel bags stick to the tried and true method of the double CC on one or two locations, not too gaudy but not too understated that the brand is unable to be recognized.

In the photo below, Sunny’s bag from the 2013 showcases the characteristics detailed above.

Though at roughly $5,000 a bag, the eye-catching design is nothing to be surprised about. After all, brands survive by revolutionizing or reinventing fashionable statements like bags or glasses. Chanel’s made trailblazing strides in both, and it’s no surprise the members of Girls’ Generation have gravitated towards them and sought to showcase them without even being sponsored models. While the price is high for some, Girls’ Generation is not just “some” group, and money is not an issue for them. With some saving and budgeting(not applicable if you’re either wealthy, if so, you probably just bought the 2 products I pictured above or already owned them), you too can turn an airport into a runway just like Jessica. Only, you know. Without the paparazzi.

Outfit of the Week

In another busy week filled with outfits, this trendy little number worn by Yoona during her appearance at the Samsonite RED F/W 2013 event earned her this weeks Outfit of the Week honors. Let’s take a closer look!

Much like Seohyun’s winning outfit last week, Yoona opted for a very simplistic get-up, consisting of only three pieces. The centerpiece of course was her dress, an embellished dress from Alexander McQueen, which though primarily black, managed to stand out with it’s triangular array of gold studs positioned at the neckline. Moving down our dear girl’s outfit(or deer girl, depending if you want to make the pun or not), a pair of simple black heels with a cream trim accentuated her already light and trim legs. Her lone accessory, an orange cross bag from Alexander McQueen, added a subtle “pop” to the outfit without drawing too much attention.

Congrats to Yoona for winning this week’s Outfit of the Week.

Though she may the youngest, maknae Seohyun currently seeks to top her unnie’s when it comes to fashion, showcasing yet another stellar outfit for the 2nd week in a row, this time at the Hair Couture event held earlier in the week.

Despite it being only made up of a few pieces, Seohyun made her outfit a centerpiece of the event. Most evident was her black-and-gray striped skirt, which showed off her lengthy legs, showing her growing maturity. Her top was a flowing sleeveless number, revealing her milky white arms(watch out for those elbows!) while remaining modest. A pair of pink heels added to her already noticeable height, and sought to give an even greater image of height and stature, while not drawing too much attention. Accessory wise, she donned only a white watch. In a very unusual change though, her normally solid-colored hair was affixed with pink highlights, possibly the most shocking part of the otherwise formal outfit.

With her sophisticated style making us swoon 2 weeks in a row, it wouldn’t surprise me to see her gracing another magazine spread sometime soon. Congrats again Seohyun!

Attending her first event as the Asian Ambassador for Topshop, Hyoyeon earned this week’s Outfit of the Week honors with this minimalist yet stylish outfit.

Unlike most other winning outfit’s that are made of several pieces and accessories, Hyoyeon’s outfit is extremely basic, consisting of only a dress and heels. Her dress was a pure white bead shift dress, from Topshop of course, that showcased her toned dancers legs. Her shoes were lime court shoes, accented with suede for a little extra flair. Her nearly platinum blonde hair was worn down with wavy curls, and not a single accessory graced her form.

Congrats to Hyoyeon for taking home this week’s Outfit of the Week honors!

While at Incheon Airport, Tiffany took time out of her busy schedule to sweep us here at SoshiStyle off our feet with her wonderful outfit!

Starting with the focal point of the outfit, Tiffany donned a pink sleeveless romper adorned with blue ribbon print, channeling a young Bohemian-esque look right off the bat. With the romper terminating mid-thigh, she could show off her famous toned milky-white legs. Going further down those legs, we find her feet adorned with a pair of DKNY high top wedge sneakers, giving her the extra height she needs to look like a fashionista as well as being infinitely more comfortable than heels. Lastly, as she’s the kind of gal never to be without her bag, she opted to bring along a clay gray Prada bag to carry her miscellaneous idol goods in.

Congrats to Tiffany for having this weeks Outfit of the Week!

With a style straight out of SoCal, Tiffany’s outfit showed that while you can take the girl out of Cali, you can’t take Cali out of the girl. She started with a white lacy top, noted for it’s prominent ruffles and pink(ha!) trim. Given the occasional breeze found in Japan, she wore a cropped beige sweater of it to keep warm. Moving down, a pair of rusty orange shorts showcased her famously firm and toned legs, terminating in a pair of tan heeled boots, which allowed her to match the height of the taller members. Accessory-wise, a white leather purse hung from her shoulders, no doubt carrying her many electronic devices. Finally, a pair of aviator sunglasses gave her a way to block out of the sun(and camera flashes) and match the other shade-wearing members.

Not only did she leave Gimpo Airport looking stylish, she also left with this week’s Outfit of the Week honors. Congrats!

Outfit Of The Week
POSTED IN Articles, Outfit of the Week, Seohyun, Sooyoung

This week when it came to outfits, we just couldn’t decide between a few members’ airport fashions and instead decided to award Outfits Of The Week!

First up, Sooyoung channeled a sophisticated school girl look, ironically on her way to Japan. She started with a maroon-colored sweater emblazoned with the letter “A” over denim-colored oxford shirt, which she rolled up to her elbows as a statement. Going down to her waist, a short black skirt accentuated her famously long legs, and with it only reaching her thighs, added a bit of an edgy flair to it all. Her feet were adorned with black ankle boots, whose short heel only added to her already statuesque figure. Finally, a yellow leather handbag hung across her shoulder, her only accessory, and she had her hair tied up in a sporty ponytail.

Following up is our maknae Seohyun. She continued her array of simple yet chic clothing, demonstrating her natural beauty. Leading off, is Seohyun’s whole denim ensemble. She paired an acid-washed skinny jeans with a light blue denim top. Since our girls have been flying nonstop to and from Japan, Seohyun decided to make herself comfortable by unbuttoning her denim shirt and layer a white top inside, with a khaki belt securing her loosely-fitted top. The statement piece of her mufti’s was the snowy oversized knit cardigan with big wooden buttons, not only the cardigan compliments her flawless white skin, the cardigan and the skinny jeans created a perfect proportion, prolonging her figure. At last, she slung over her slouchy DKNY satchel and slipped in a pair of white studded flats.
