And the Best Red Carpet Style in 2013 goes to…
POSTED IN Fashion Highlights, Sooyoung
12

With enthusiastic variation and confidence in the fine art of ‘less is more’, Sooyoung is crowned the winner for this year’s Red Carpet Style. From effortlessly chic in a pair of jeans to classic feminine in a-line skirts; Sooyoung has had us applauding throughout the year with her constant new takes on what to wear to public events.

Though Sooyoung’s red carpet moments consist mostly of brand events and movie premiers, but that does not mean there is a lack of stunning outfits. Sooyoung has a knack for making everyday outfits stand out in order to grab your attention. For example, one of the things that set Sooyoung apart from the other nominees for this category was something as simple as pants.

While rarely seen on the other girls at official events, pants have been a staple item for Sooyoung this past year. Though always skinny, the pants have ranged in style from classic denim washes to military camouflage and sparkly sequins and have been utilized as a statement piece that elevates a whole entire look.

As for gala appearances, Sooyoung has had two this year (so far), donning a floor-length, minimalistic gown for one of them, and an almost impossibly short dress with a deep neckline for the other. Mixing it up just seems to come naturally to her and Miss Choi is not a one-trick pony. When it comes to colours, we can see this years palette has gravitated towards the monochromatic range from black via gray to white, and a wide array of blues. Where other colours do pop up they are in general kept muted.

Congratulations to Sooyoung for cinching the title of 2013’s best Red Carpet Style!

Review: Current/Elliott Leopard Skinny Jeans

Review on Current/Elliott’s Leopard Skinny Jeans as seen on Seohyun.

When I first saw one of the girls wearing this particular jeans, I immediately knew I had to get one. The leopard print of the jeans make it a statement piece and can be paired with almost anything! The jeans are 90% cotton and 6% polyester and 4% elastin and is made in the United States.

The jeans are made in a skinny fit so for those who want to show off those legs, this jeans is a must have. For different seasons, the jeans come in different washes (colours) I got mine in Indigo leopard (which is just a fancy name for medium washed coloured jeans) at my local Harvey Nichols. One of the huge factors as to why I bought this jeans was its comfiness. As a person who travels a lot and lives in a conservative country, I found these jeans just right! They are so comfortable and if you’re always stuck in a long flight, this jeans is definitely worth spending your money on. They stretch very well and provide the utmost comfort.

Drawbacks:

One of my pet peeves of this jeans is the length of it. The jeans are supposed to be worn with the ends of it rolled up to your ankle. If I don’t roll the folds up, it is way too long for me, (it appears too long for Seohyun as well). Sometimes, I like to wear my jeans exactly cropped at the ankle but this jeans does not allow me to that. If you do like your jeans rolled up though, this pair of jeans would be fantastic for you! Do be careful when you wash these jeans though because the colour does leak and come out so try not to mix it with light colored clothing when you wash it.

Otherwise, I do not have any other complaints about these jeans. They’re stylish and comfortable, a must have in a girl’s wardrobe, I dare say.

Rating: 4/5

Bag Brand of 2013

Two years ago, the girls’ slight obsession with Mulberry and its iconic Alexa satchel made it as the most loved brand of bag. Though it put up a good fight as defending champion, French fashion empire Chanel snatched the title away winning this year’s Bag Brand of the Year.

The Chanel flap bag holds a lot of history about Coco Chanel, every aspect of the bag tells a story in her life. When Karl Lagerfeld took over Chanel as creative director and revamped the design of the bag (replacing the Mademoiselle turnlock with the double-C’s, double flap, etc.), he justified the bag as a paradox of being modest and sophisticated. That’s probably why it still remains a classic staple to fashion enthusiasts.

The girls are no strangers to the Chanel game; eight (except Seohyun) of them own a Chanel bag (or more). Their Chanels are usually flaunted at the airport, sometimes at public events and personal schedules. Their innocent crush on the brand started a few years ago but only now did that turned into a love affair. Jessica, especially, who is under the Chanel love spell had four different bags (not to mention her growing Chanel sneakers collection) in this year alone.

Most of them preferred the flap with turnlock design probably because it’s what defines Chanel most. Some went for the classics, like Yoona, Tiffany, and Hyoyeon; while some had more unique choices like Sunny and Jessica. Yuri and Taeyeon went for the modern and masculine twist and got the BOY Chanel bags.

The girls had different tastes in size, shape, and color of the bags; but their love for Chanel is what they had in common. And we hope it doesn’t stop any time soon.
